BackChat is a party game where players listen to reversed audio phrases and try to speak them backwards. The App records your attempt, reverses it, and plays it back so everyone can hear how close you got to the original phrase.
BackChat stores all data locally on your device. We do not have access to any of your data. To delete all app data:
This will remove all recordings, game history, preferences, and cached data.
Alternatively, uninstalling the App will also remove all locally stored data.

Q: What Android version is required?
A: BackChat requires Android 10 (API level 29) or higher. This is required for the MediaStore API used for downloading and saving audio recordings to your device's media library.
Q: Why does the App need microphone permission?
A: The microphone is the core gameplay mechanic. It records your spoken attempts so the App can reverse them and play them back. The microphone is only active when you press and hold the Record button. Audio is processed entirely on your device using a custom native module and is never sent anywhere.
Q: Why does the App need storage permission?
A: Storage access is only needed if you choose to download or save a recording to your device's media library. It is not required for normal gameplay.
Q: Does the App use the internet?
A: No. BackChat operates 100% offline. There is no cloud backend, no user accounts, and no data transmission. All audio processing happens locally on your device.
Q: My recording sounds distorted or too quiet. What can I do?
A: Make sure you're holding the device close to your mouth when recording. Check that no other apps are using the microphone at the same time. Restarting the App can also help if audio behaves unexpectedly.
Q: Can I share my recordings?
A: Yes. Use the share button to send recordings via your device's native share sheet (messaging apps, email, social media, etc.). The App uses react-native-share and does not intercept or log any shared content.
Q: How do I report a bug?
A: Email us at support@riverskylabs.com with a description of the issue, your device model, and Android version. Screenshots or screen recordings are always helpful.
BackChat requests only the minimum permissions needed. No location, contacts, camera, or network permissions are used.
